The new Kindle 3 has hit the Kindle UK store. You now have two options of 6″ Kindle Wireless Reading Device to choose from. Option A costs you £149, and provides you with a Kindle 3G & Wifi enabled reader. Option B allows you to save £40 and get the Kindle 3 Wifi version instead.
In all other respects both new 6″ Kindle 3′s are identical.

- Much better clarity than ever before, with darker more defined text and a 50% greater contrast so reading in the sunshine (you know sometimes it really is sunny) is easy.
- Cheaper books now the Kindle UK Bookstore has opened its shelves.
- Free downloads of most first chapters so you can browse as slowly as you like, and make sure each eBook purchase is a keeper!
What you don’t get with the Kindle 3 wifi eBook Reader is a 3G connection. This means that whilst it is great at home, school or your favourite cafe with a free Wifi hotspot, it won’t serve you well overseas. But, with an internal memory capable of holding up to 3500 eBooks you could always download everything you will want to read before you go and then switch of the wifi connectivity to enjoy up to a month of battery life between charges!
While the wifi only version of the new Kindle 3 will not be for everyone it does perform a great job of opening up the wireless eBook reader market to those on a smaller budget, and is definitely worth considering if 3G is not an issue (or you live somewhere like me where a 3G signal is still something of a rumour and rarely actually witnessed!).
So save yourself forty quid and choose the wifi only Kindle 3, bought direct from the UK with free delivery. The only slight snag is they are currently sold out. But order now and your new Kindle 3 will be with you by mid September!
