Amazon do not ship Kindles to Singapore or offer content there. I am guessing you had the Kindle shipped to another country initially (or got second hand). You would need to register the Kindle to that other country if you wanted to download new ebooks.

I live in singapore and I have the kindle e reader. However I am unable to buy the ebooks from amazon uk. There are so many books that i want to buy but it appears that amazon uk will not accept purchase. Is this true ? What is the use of having the kindle then.

@ Faye - you can buy Kindle books from the device itself or from a computer. The Kindle book store will remember your debit or credit card details from when you bought the device, or your first book, so you won't need to keep inputting those details to order more titles. Once ordered you can view them on a computer with the "Kindle app" installed, or on the device. If you want to send them to the computer first you can then transfer via the USB cable to your Kindle, or download wirelessly if you have wi-fi or 3G connectivity at that time.

I usually order new books on my laptop since I use that more to access the web easily. Once paid for they will show up in the "archives" section on the Kindle. Click on the title in the archive title you wish to read next and it will download wirelessly to the device if you have the 3G/wi-fi switched on.

Once I've purchased my Kindle and begin downloading books...can I pay for them online with a credit card? Also, I've read that for the more "mature" users who wish to view book purchases via the larger computer monitor before downloading to the Kindle...can this download be accomplished via USB Port with existing cables?

Hi Jack,

Just click on the big text at the top, for either a 3G Kindle, or a wi-fi Kindle. You will then be able to enter your quantity, delivery and payment details securely.
